Community-based arts? Grassroots performances? Egalitarian exhibition arts? We invite students, scholars, practitioners to explore ways in which artistic shows, whether they be live performances or visual exhibitions, intersect with community—especially as they build upon or otherwise engage with their communities in a variety of approaches. This conference, sponsored by the Small Cities Community-University Research Alliance, will bring together people from different disciplines, professions and cultures to explore and better define the issues and understandings in the Arts-Community relationship as they operate in the small city.
